W King Health Care continues to be the only private practice led medical station, which recruits local community-based physicians of color and health professional students to provide the health care interventions needed for that day. Goals
-
Expand Access to Medical Equipment: Provide financial assistance to patients in need of essential medical supplies like blood pressure monitors and mobility aids. This program, only two months old, has already supplied 10 blood pressure monitors and 7 mobility aids to patients in need of blood pressure monitoring and at high risk of falls. These patients were unable to afford these devices that were not covered by their insurance plans.
-
Support Uncompensated Care: Fundraise to cover the costs of uncompensated care offered by W King Health Care Group. W King Health Care Group has provided uncompensated care to patients who have lost their insurance because of unemployment; or have needed care while transferring medical insurances. The uncompensated care fund is projected to be expanded to provide coverage for dental claims for patients in need.
-
Continue and Expand Outreach: Grow community health initiatives, including health fairs, screenings, and educational events.
-
Continue to Expand the Southbay HIV Provider Network. Fundraising through grant writing to support unbranded and non-Pharma funded monthly lectures. Create opportunities for members to present at monthly lectures or through an annual World AIDS Day (WAD) recognition symposium. W King Cares Corp has written several grants to support the first WAD symposium this year. Southbay HIV Provider Consortium members are featured faculty.
-
Taste of Soul: This year, W King Cares Corp will focus on raising funds to cover the costs of the medical supplies and services that W King Health Care Group typically donates to the festival.
